Harold Albert Gotha
1934 - 2018
Harold Albert Gotha, 84, of Ida passed away Thursday, January 11, 2018. Born January 2, 1934 in Monroe, Harold was the son of Frank and Bertha (Steinman) Gotha. He was a 1953 graduate of Ida High School and he faithfully served his country in the United States Army. He was married to the love of his life Janice (Masserant) for 62 years.
Harold worked hard over the years supporting his family and one of his first jobs was at Tecumseh Products. He then purchased the Ida IGA in 1972 until 1987 when a fire destroyed his business. During those 15 years it was common to see him there 7 days a week serving his customers and the community anyway he could. Harold then worked as a meat manager for other grocery stores until retirement.
He constructed two of his own homes for his family to live in and over the many years has given countless hours helping friends and family on their homes. He also enjoyed playing a round of golf, fishing, cards and being with family and friends.
Survivors include: his wife Janice; sons, Craig Gotha, Gary (Lori) Gotha, Steven (Kelly) Gotha, daughters, LaRae (Ramon) Barnes, Laura (John) Zemsky, Linda (Chuck) Trombley; grandkids, Melissa (Jason) Sheppard, Kayla (Ian) Dutcher, Ryan Gotha, Rebecca Gotha, Charles Trombley, Adam Trombley, Eric (Amber) Trombley, Noah Gotha, Hannah Gotha; great grandkids, Ella Dutcher.
Friends may call at the Capaul Funeral Home, Ida, Sunday Jan 14th from 3 PM until 8 PM. He will lie in state at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Parish, St. Joseph Church, Ida, Monday Jan 15th, from 10 AM until the Mass of Resurrection at 11 AM. Fr. Gerald Cupple will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Ida.
