Dale Orin Thompson Sr.

1937 - 2018

 

Dale Orin Thompson Sr. 80 yrs, of Petersburg, MI, died Friday, February 2, 1018, in his residence under the care of ProMedica Hospice. Friends may call at the Capaul Funeral Home, Ida, MI, Wednesday February 7, 2018, from 2-8 PM. There will be a private burial at a later date in Pleasant View Cemetery, Petersburg, MI.

 

Born June 10, 1937, in Summerfield Township. Dale was the son of Orin and Rena (Evou) Thompson. He was a 1955 Summerfield High School Graduate. He married Mattie Virginia Short on March 2, 1957 in Summerfield Township. He served honorably in the US Air Force from 1955-1959. He was the founder and a Master Plumber of Thompson Plumbing and Heating in Petersburg, MI, in 1964, where he owned and operated for 54 yrs, retiring in 1993, still keeping his presidency. He also founded Thompson Property Development. He was a member of Petersburg United Methodist Church, Kiwanis Club, Lions Club and Monroe Master Plumbers. He loved traveling, casino trips, spending time at his cabin, being with friends and family and especially loved working on family projects. He always had a project going on.

 

Survivors include: his wife, Mattie; sons, Dale (Kelly) Thompson Jr., David Thompson; daughters, Kimberly (David) Scheich, Cheryl (Keith) Baranowski; sisters, Marilyn (Robert) Blunt, Shirley Buske Topfer; brother-in-law, Herb (Meredith) Short; grandchildren, Justin (Christa) Thompson, Jennifer (Chris) Foster, Holly (Chris) Curry, James (Nicole) Zatko Jr, Stephanie (Nick) Bub, Brandon Thompson and great-grandchildren, Jaxon and Charleigh Foster, Ella, Chase, Isabel and Asher Curry, Logan, Tyler and Jonathon Zartko and Lucas and Nathan Bub. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Donna Jean Henry.

 

The family of Dale would like to especially thank: Kelly Huidy, Jenna Boss, Lisa Walters, Janet Schuler, Nicky and her teammates of ProMedica Hospice and Visiting Angels of Monroe.

 

Dale had a special place in his heart for his longtime friend and nurse Janet and would like memorial contributions to be given to: Michigan Ovarian Cancer Alliance or Petersburg United Methodist Church.
