Lois Marie Woelmer

1933 - 2018

Lois Marie Woelmer was born in Monroe, MI, on January 26, 1933 to Norman Carl Woelmer and Mary Lutz Woelmer. She died while under the care of Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Toledo, OH, on January 7, 2018. Friends may call at the Capaul Funeral Home, Ida, MI, Wednesday, January 10, 2018 from 2-8 PM. She will lie-in-state on Thursday, January 11, 2018, from 10 AM until the services at 11 AM, at East Ida Immanuel Lutheran Church, Monroe, MI. Pastor Curtis Garland will officiate. Burial will be in East Ida Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Ida, MI.

Lois graduated from Ida High School in 1950. After high school she went to airline school and worked for Detroit Metro Airport for a few years before entering in LPN school. Her career was working for years at Mercy memorial Hospital as a LPN from 1966 until her retirement in 1995.

She was most proud of going to Monroe Market from 1973-2016, and taking over the flower business from her aunt Evelyn Lutz-Gaertner. Lois created beautiful fresh and dried flower bouquets and made lovely Christmas arrangements for the holidays. Lois is survived by her siblings, Donna J. Stotz, Donald (Lena) Woelmer, Margaret (Gerald) Flatt, Robert (Toot) Woelmer, Gerald (Cheryl) Woelmer and a sister-in-law, Jeanette Woelmer. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Melvin Woelmer and a brother-in-law, Erhard Stotz.

Aunt Lois was a mother hen to many nieces and nephews, great- nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews. It brought her great joy to spend time with all her nieces and nephews. She was always a fierce protector of all of them just like a mother hen.

Special thanks to her faithful friend Pauline Potter, Lois always appreciated your visits. The family is very grateful to Hospice of Northwest Ohio for the assistance in caring for Lois in her home over the last year. We especially are grateful for the aides Misty from Serenity Care and Diana from Hospice of Northwest Ohio. She was a lifelong member of East Ida Immanuel Lutheran Church, Monroe, MI, and the Ladies Aide.

Memorial contributions for Ms. Woelmer can be made to: East Ida Immanuel Lutheran Church (Repair and Maintenance Fund) or The Family.
