Linda Mae Gilson (Fisher)

1940 - 2019

 

Linda Mae Gilson (Fisher), was born in Deerfield, MI, on April 21, 1940 to Edward and Sophia (Schmidt) Fisher. Linda went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday Evening, February 19, 2019 surrounded by her children and grandchildren at Lakes of Sylvania, Sylvania, OH. Friends may call at the Capaul Funeral Home, Ida, MI, Sunday February 24, 2019, from 2-8PM. She will lie in state on Monday February 25, 2019, in St. Peters Lutheran Church, Petersburg, MI, from 10 AM until the services at 11 AM. Pastor Mark Flory will officiate. Burial will be beside her husband of 56 yrs Alfred J. "Bubby" Gilson Jr. in Pleasant View Cemetery, Petersburg, MI.

 

United in marriage on August 30, 1958, Linda and Al were Summerfield High School class of 1958 high school sweethearts. Linda loved to sew outfits for her children and spent many a day sewing for her friends and members of the community. Linda was a special Education Bus Driver for Summerfield Schools from 1982-2002. You would find her surrounded by her family every Sunday in their home enjoying a meal she so lovingly prepared, laughing, playing cards and spending time with her family. Grandma Gilson loved to watch her children and grandchildren play sports and participate in the theater.

 

Linda is survived by her children, a son, Alfred (Linda) J. Gilson III, four daughters: Lynette (William) Miller, Kelly (Gerald) Sweeney, Melissa (Gregory) Hess, Stacie (James) Nation, a brothers, Lynwood (Judy) Fisher, Dean (Patricia) Fisher, a sister, Leona (Ronald) Payne, 14 grandchildren: Andy (Julia) Gilson, Katie (Matt) Nieport, Ashley (Rusty) Willard, Zachary, Ryan and Will Miller, Brooke and Bradley (Nicole) Sweeney, Lindsay, Emma and Sophia Hess, Allison, Abigail, Joseph Nation, one great-grandson Clayton, two great-granddaughters, Raelynn and Isabelle and one more great-granddaughter on the way. She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.
