John Clifford Eckel

John Clifford Eckel, 78 yrs, of Petersburg died Monday, September 13, 2021. Cremation has occurred. Private burial of cremains will take place at a later date at Oak Grove Cemetery, Petersburg, MI.

Born January 3, 1943, in Monroe, MI. John was the son of John Clayton and Virginia (Boldt) Eckel. He was a 1960 Dundee High School Graduate. He served with the US Air Force from 1960-1964. He married Elaine Durkin in Niagara Falls, NY, in 1963. He worked for the Ford Motor Company for 33 yrs, retiring in 2001. He was a member of the Lewiston American Legion Post 198 where he loved to march and carry the flag for holiday parades and for the American Legion. He loved going up north, picking wild blueberries and morel mushrooms where he was a member of the Lewiston Mushroom Club. John also loved casino trips, hunting, and fishing. John was known for telling jokes and wanted to see people laugh.

Survivors include His wife, Elaine; siblings, Randolph (Pat) Eckel, Janet Cawood and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Gary Eckel and Sharon Miller.
