Beverly Ann Nutt (Salo)

Beverly Ann Nutt (Salo) was born on December 14th, 1951 to Helen (Gies) Salo and Norman Salo. She graduated from Ida High School in 1970 and studied art at Monroe County Community College. Bev was a familiar face at Monroe Optical, where she worked for several years before managing several stores, including Book Warehouse, which expanded her love of good books. Her talent for creating flower arrangements led her to start her own business, cleverly named Floral and Hearty. She also brought honesty and integrity to her later profession as a Realtor with Blanchette Real Estate and Foster Realty.

Bev was a member of the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Petersburg, taking quiet pride that her ancestors had donated land to build the church. On June 9, 1984 she took the vows of marriage with Robert Nutt. Together, they worked hard to remodel their century-old house on Cass Street in Monroe before building their dream house in Ida.

Bev loved gardening, willing to get her hands dirty to grow flowers that attract butterflies and hummingbirds. Every spring she planted gladiolus bulbs, which she especially liked for their strong stalks and deep colors. The tulips that survived the rabbits' chomps always brought a smile to her lips. Asian lilies, hollyhocks, poker plants, snapdragons and many other varieties of flowers could be found in her expansive garden. She planted milkweed to promote the monarch butterfly population. An excellent cook, she appreciated the taste of homegrown tomatoes, canning them for the flavor of summer in her winter soups and sauces.

Final Jeopardy was her strong suit, along with being somewhat convincing at making up Scrabble words. Her fingers were always busy while watching a movie, crocheting colorful baby blankets for the next generation of strong women. She enjoyed traveling, even visiting Singapore and Hawaii in 1995.

Beverly Salo Nutt valiantly battled against medical issues until God welcomed her to heaven on March 24, 2022. Bev is survived by her husband, Robert, sister Patricia Parker, nieces Yvette (Rodney) Haddix and Shawna (William) Lawson, grand nieces Taylor Haddix and Chelsea (Daniel) Bogedain, cousin Nelda Reynolds and other extended family members.

On Robert's side of her family, she will be fondly remembered by brothers-in law Gary Nutt, William Nutt, David (Carla) Nutt and sisters-in-law Kathleen Vanderbush, Mary (Frank) Smith, and Carol Major. Also, she leaves nephews Gary (Gina) Russell, Gregory (Samantha) Moore Jr., Christopher (Tiffany) Moore and Daniel Major. Her nieces are Debbie Nutt, Jennifer (Blake) Callens, and Charity (Cody) Nelms. She will be deeply missed by step-daughter Stephanie Pelow, stepson Robert Nutt III and granddaughters Selena Gallardo, Emaya Pelow, Thalia Gallardo, Alexis Clark and Zoe Clark.

Waiting for her at the rainbow bridge are her furry friends, dogs Gracie, Tasha and Pudge and cats, JoJo, Peaches, Loretta and Precious.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers-in-law Dale Parker and Mark Major, along with sister-in-law Linda Nutt.

Friends and family of Bev will gather on Wednesday, March 30th 2022 at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church (7295 Kruse Rd, Petersburg) from 10am until the service commences at 11am.
