Billy Ray Odneal
October 3rd, 1937 - March 19th, 2022
Born, raised and lived until his death in Petersburg, MI, Billy Ray Odneal went to be with the Lord on March 19th, 2022. He was born the first of four children, Cork (Pat), Ginger (Jerry) and Marilyn (Ron) from the marriage of Ruth (Tucker) Odneal and Marvin Odneal on October 3rd, 1937. Billy Ray graduated from Summerfield High School in 1955 at which time he left home and joined the Navy. Upon completion of his service to our country, he married his eternal soul mate, Monica Edelbrock, on December 10, 1960. From their union, they were blessed with four children, Kathy, Peggy Krueger (Randy), Julie Perry (Mike) and Kelly Odneal (Barb). Eight grandchildren, Kathie (John), Jason, Kyle, Ryan, Freddy, Jamie, Mark and Teddy (Amanda) and three great grandchildren, Keslyn, TJ and Ryker.
Often referred to as Opie as a child, he was active in sports growing up, had many dogs named Jabo and was the proud parent of a pet crow. He worked at the Dundee Cement plant forever and carried out annual family camping trips until his retirement at which time he and Monica purchased a cottage on Hemlock Lake. He loved to shop at garage sales and his favorite clothes were those which were "broke in." Bill liked to order a shot of whisky at every meal and was always friendly to strangers. However, no one ever told the Big Boss what to do. He ate a piece of home-made pie every day for over 30 years and loved chicken gizzards. Always a saver and never a spender, Bill was always willing to assist others in need when they were a bit shy or just needed a place to stay.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marv and Ruth, our first angel, Kathy, brother Cork, brother-in-laws, Don, Fran, George and Ron and sister-in-laws, Janice and Pat.
