Frederick “Fritz” W. Kaminska
February 25th, 1941 - December 2nd, 2022
Frederick “Fritz” W. Kaminska, 81, of Monroe, MI, was born on February 25, 1941, in Hillsdale, MI. He was the son of Fred and Reonette (Tietje) Kaminska. Fritz was a 1959 graduate of Monroe High School, and later earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Eastern Michigan University. He worked at Gruber’s Food Market out of high school, then worked for the City of Monroe in the Engineering department. For a short time, he also worked for Tecumseh Products in Dundee. He retired from the Monroe County Road Commission in the Engineering department.
Fritz married Lana Stanfill on June 9, 1962. They celebrated their 60th anniversary at Brookdale Senior Living in Monroe where Fritz was a resident. He loved to sing and was almost always a member of a choir or group, including The Peace Notes and church choir at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Ida, where he was a member. He also sang in the Agora Chorale at MCCC. His hobbies included classic cars, gardening, and traveling, which was his favorite thing to do. Fritz was known for starting projects big and small, then not finishing them before starting another.
Fritz is survived by his wife Lana, daughter Lynette (Dallas) Powers, grandchildren Ashley and Ronan Powers, sister Noryne (Ralph) Capauldi of Ann Arbor, and brother John (Linda) Kaminska of Ann Arbor and Venice, FL. He was preceded in death by his parents. The family would like to thank Brookdale Senior Living of Monroe and Promedica Monroe for the compassionate care they provided towards the end of Fritz’s life.
As per Fritz’s wishes, he will be cremated with no services. The arrangements are being made by Capaul Funeral Home. There will be a celebration of life at a later date.
