George Henry Manders Jr.

George Henry Manders Jr., 90 yrs, of Petersburg, MI, died Friday May 13th, 2022, in Arbor Hospice Saline, MI. Friends may call on Tuesday May 17, 2022, at the Capaul Funeral Home, Ida, MI, from 2-8 PM. He will lie-in-state on Wednesday May 18, 2022, from 10 AM with eulogy at 10:30 AM until the Mass of the Resurrection at 11 AM at St. Gabriel Catholic Parish, St. Joseph Catholic Church, Ida, MI. Fr. Gerard Cupple will officiate. Burial will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Ida, MI.

Born September 13th, 1931, in Temperance, MI, George Jr. was the son of George and Mary (Stump) Manders Sr. He was a 1950 Ida High School Graduate. He served Honorably with the US Army from February 12, 1952 - November 11, 1953. George married Lerene Diroff on January 14, 1956 in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Ida, MI. Lerene died February 21, 2008. George was a Machine Operator for Tecumseh Products for 36 years. He was a member of The American Legion Lynn C Weeman Post 514, St. Gabriel Catholic Parish, St. Joseph Catholic Church, Ida, MI. He loved to dance, hunt, fish, camp and spend time with family and friends.

Survivors include: children, Judy Manders, Bonnie (Keith) Loveday, Sandra (Robert) Heskett, Michael Manders, Carla (Brett) Smith, Daniel Manders; a sister, Leona Schwalm; grandchildren, Elizabeth (Tony), David (Shannon), Emily (Kyle), Nicholas, Bryce, Ryan, Nicole and great-grandchildren, Axel and Elena. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and sisters, Margaret Manders, Angela Painter and Lenore Pappas.
