Allyn Louis Wohlgamuth

Allyn Louis Wohlgamuth, born on April 20th, 1933, to Theodore

and Thelma (Gregory) Wohlgamuth, peacefully passed away on

August 5th, 2023, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. He was 90 years

old.

Allyn grew up in Petersburg, Michigan and graduated from

Summerfield High School in 1951, where he stood out as a

basketball player and served as the class president. He was a

resident of Petersburg for over 60 years and then moved to

Waterville, Ohio.

He had a remarkable career in the lumber industry spanning over

50 years. In 1952, Allyn began working at Hickson Peterson

Lumber Company in Petersburg, where he developed a passion

for the lumber business. Later, he worked as a purchasing agent

at Gallant Lumber Company in Toledo, making significant

contributions.

Throughout the years, Allyn held roles as a purchasing agent at

Airport Lumber, Mann's Lumber, and Gordon Lumber in Maumee.

After retiring from the lumber industry, he spent a decade as a

dealer trade driver for Brondes Ford.

Beyond work, Allyn enjoyed nature, working in his yard, fishing,

archery, and golf. He and his wife Alvina also enjoyed traveling to

places like California, Utah, the Smoky Mountains, Maine, Florida,

and Aruba. Allyn’s most memorable vacations were the ones he

spent with his family, renting cottages in the Irish Hills area. He

was also an avid University of Michigan football fan.

Allyn's kindness touched many lives, especially those of his co-

workers, neighbors, and golf buddies. He will be remembered for

his strong work ethic, kindness, and willingness to help others.

He is survived by his four children: Anita (Ron) Wagner, Rick

Wohlgamuth, Rita (Ken) Gilson, and Renee Sambiagio. He is also

survived by eight grandchildren—John, Todd, Chad, Joseph,

Shay, Haley, Brandy, Tiffany—and thirteen great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Alvina, brother

Dallas, and oldest great-grandchild Collin Doyle.

Join us for a Celebration of Life for Allyn on Friday, August 11th,

2023, from 3 pm to 8 pm at Capaul Funeral Home, located at

8216 Ida West Road in Ida, Michigan, 48140. A private funeral will

be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Allyn's

memory to Hospice of Northwest Ohio are greatly appreciated.
