Betty Jo Copeland (Purcell)

Betty Jo Copeland (Purcell), 91 yrs. of Petersburg, MI, died Monday May 15, 2023, in Hospice of Lenawee. Friends may gather at the Capaul Funeral Home, Tuesday May 23, 2023, from 1PM until the services at 3PM. Pastor Harold Raymond of Dundee Baptist Church will officiate. Cremation will occur after.

Born March 5, 1932, in Leoma, TN. Betty was the daughter of Oscar and Lena (Coleman) Purcell. She was a 1951 Loretta High School Graduate. She married Jessie Copeland on August 9, 1952, in Iuka, Mississippi. Jessie died January 5, 2020. Betty worked with her husband at GM Livonia where they went to work and came home together for 33 years, retiring in 1988. She was a member of Dundee Baptist Church, Dundee, MI, the UAW 174 Livonia. Betty loved camping, traveling, gardening, painting, cooking and especially spending time with family and grandchildren.

Survivors include: her children, Ted (Luanne) Copeland, Macey (Leonard Sanders) Fetters; grandchildren, Jason (Danielle), Jessie (Abby), Matthew, Travis and great-grandchildren, Henry, Asher, and Sadie. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and brothers, Ralph, and Jo.
