Darla Del (Robison) Gere

Darla Del (Robison) Gere – 85 years of Ida, MI – died on Tuesday January 9, 2024, at Toledo Hospital.  Cremation has occurred.  Family and friends can visit West Ida Immanuel Lutheran Church (Ida, MI) on Thursday January 18, 2024, from 10am until the Memorial Service commences at 11am.  The burial of cremains will take place at Lulu Cemetery (Ida, MI) at a later date.  Pastor Denise Benjamin will officiate.

Born on January 1, 1939 – in Toledo, OH – Darla was the daughter of Delbert and Elinor (Zeisler) Robison.  She was a 1956 Ida High School graduate.  In addition, Darla obtained an associate degree in Radiology from Jackson Community College.  She worked at Monroe Mercy Hospital as a Radiology Tech Supervisor for 17 years.  Darla married Charles “Bill” Gere Jr. on November 16, 1957, in Whitmore Lake, MI.  Charles passed away on March 29, 2018. When Darla’s children were younger, she was involved in the Cub Scouts and the Campfire Girls for many years.  Darla was also an active member of West Ida Immanuel Lutheran Church.  She helped orchestrate funeral luncheons, volunteered with the food bank and was a sexton of West Ida Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery.  When she wasn’t working, she enjoyed quilting and she was an avid reader. She also enjoyed traveling with Bill and spending quality time with family and friends.

Survivors include her son Douglas (Jennifer) Gere, her daughters Paula (John) Kocinski and Lisa (Dan) Brannan, her brother Thomas (Linda) Robison, her grandchildren Phillip (Nickii), Morgan, Lucas (Taylor), and Grant, and her great-grandchildren Cairo, Charisma, and Bailee.  Darla was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Bill.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made out to West Ida Immanuel Lutheran Church and / or Friends of the Ida Branch Library.
