Dolores Rose Bodine

September 16, 1922 - February 20, 2023

Dolores Rose Bodine, of Dundee, MI, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Monday, February 20, 2023, at Wellspring Lutheran Services (Monroe, MI) at the age of 100.  Born September 16, 1922, Dolores was the daughter of William J. and Anna M. (Engel) Goodnough.  She was a 1941 Monroe High School Graduate, and married Lennon C. Bodine on February 7, 1942, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Maybee, MI.  Together, they were beloved parents of 10 children who made up the Lennon Bodine Family entertainers for which Dolores coordinated, sang, and made their costumes.  She worked at the University of Michigan for 13 years as a secretary/transcriber in Ophthalmology, retiring in 1985.  She enjoyed playing the piano, singing, camping, playing cards, gardening/canning, cooking/baking, praying, and spending quality time with family and friends.  Dolores was a member of the Christian Mothers, parish council and choir at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ida, MI.


Survivors include her son, C. Dean (Mary) Bodine; daughters, Margie (Ray) Kuehnlein, Nancy (Harry) Salenbien, Bonnie (Donald) Gildersleeve, Dolores (Jerry) McMullen, Annette (Perry) Freelon, Peggy Heiden, Lori (Douglas) Brown; daughter-in-law Jackie Bodine; sister, Geraldine Lamarre; brother, William Goodnough; and 119 grandchildren/great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.  Dolores was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sons, L. Timothy and W. Lee Bodine; siblings, Bernard Goodnough, Helen (Navarre), Albert Goodnough, Marie (Burns), Leo Goodnough, Gertrude (Matthes), Clarence Goodnough, Loretta (Brossia), Lillian (Seitz); grandchild, Taylor Brown, and great grandchild, Gabriel Cavasin.


Friends may call at Capaul Funeral Home in Ida, MI on Tuesday, February 28, from 11 am to 8 pm.  Rosary will be at 7 pm.  Dolores will lie-in-state at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ida, MI on Wednesday, March 1, at 10 am with funeral services commencing at 11 am.  Burial will take place immediately following the funeral at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Ida.  Fr. Mike Anagbogu will officiate.
