Irene Ann Gotha (Montri)

Irene Ann Gotha (Montri) - 78 yrs. of Temperance, MI - died Friday July 28, 2023, under the care of Hospice of Northwest Ohio. Friends may gather at the Capaul Funeral Home, Ida, MI, Tuesday August 1, 2023, from 2-8pm with rosary at 7pm. She will lie-in-state on Wednesday August 2, 2023, from 10 AM until the Mass of the Resurrection at 11AM at St. Gabriel Catholic Parish, St. Joseph Catholic Church, Ida, MI. Cremation will occur after.

Born January 19, 1945, in Monroe, MI. Irene was the daughter of Harold and Freda (Webber) Montri. She was a 1963 Ida High School Graduate and later earned her RN from Mercy School of Nursing in Toledo.  She enjoyed a 50-year career as an RN working at Mercy Hospital in Toledo and Hospice of Monroe.  She also taught STNA training classes for Care for You 2.  She was formerly married to James Gotha.

Irene was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church and former member of St. Gabriel Parish, St Joseph Catholic Church, Ida, MI. She was an eucharistic minster and parish nurse for Our Lady of Mt. Carmel.  She loved frogs and was known as “the frog lady”.  Attending daily mass and going out to eat with her friends was her favorite way to enjoy the day. 

Survivors include: her children, James (Kelly) Gotha, Mark (Shannon) Gotha, Christine (Rich) Kopas and grandchildren, Brandon, Austin, Taylor (Cody), Erin and Lexie. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Marvin, Lyle, and Orville Montri.
