Jack William Rayce

Jack William Rayce – 80 years of Monroe, MI – died on Wednesday November 15, 2023, at his residence under the care of ProMedica Monroe Hospice. A visitation for friends and family will be held at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church on Wednesday November 22, 2023, from 9am until 11am. A memorial service will begin at 11am. Reverend Evans C. Bentley will officiate.

Born on July 30, 1943, in Clinton, Indiana, Jack was the son of Thomas and Alberta (Sills) Rayce. He was a 1961 Clinton High School graduate. Jack graduated from Indiana State University and earned degrees in education. For 40 years Jack worked for Monroe Public Schools as an educator, coach and school counselor. He married Fran Massa on June 7, 1969, in Universal, Indiana. Jack was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church and was a regular volunteer at the MCOP food pantry. He enjoyed golfing, traveling, hiking in Europe, reading, gardening, and spending quality time with family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Fran; his son Jeffrey Rayce (Kim) and his daughter Laura Swisher (Zach); grandchildren Natalie and Adam Rayce, and Keelin and Isla Swisher; and brother Jerry Rayce (Betty). Jack is also survived by brothers-in-law Peter Massa (Connie) and Paul Massa (Bonnie) and his seven nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to MCOP: The Lord’s Harvest Food Pantry or St. Paul’s Memorial Scholarship Fund. Other ways to honor Jack would be to take a walk with a friend, plant a garden and share your tomatoes, or play a round of golf with your buddies.
