James Richard Adams (Jim)
March 13, 1940 - June 17, 2023
James Richard Adams (Jim), 83 yrs. of Petersburg, MI, died Saturday June 17, 2023, with relatives by his side at Hampton Manor in Dundee, MI, under the care of Compassionate Care Hospice.  There will be a gathering on Saturday July 22, 2023, from 11AM until the service at 1PM at Capaul Funeral Home in Ida, MI.  Hospice Chaplain Mike Frison will officiate. A private burial of cremains will take place at Pleasant View Cemetery in Petersburg, MI.

Born March 13, 1940, in Adrian, MI, James was the son of Harold and Helena (Minster) Adams. He was a 1958 Deerfield High School Graduate.  Jim married Carol Carriere on June 2, 1962, at St. Irene’s Catholic Church in Dundee, MI. He attended St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ida, MI with Carol and was a volunteer with In The Spirit of Giving organization through St. Mary Catholic Church in Monroe, MI, for many years. In addition, he worked with a building crew through Habitat for Humanity for several years.

Jim liked country music and visited the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, TN while on vacation. He enjoyed exploring the Southwest when visiting his son and grandchildren in AZ, always looking for a road less traveled.
Jim was a lifelong lover of classic cars, hot rods, and motorcycles, buying his first car, a ’37 Chevy Coupe, as a teenager. He enjoyed attending car shows and being a part of the car community. He tackled several projects: restoring a ’39 Chevy Coupe and Cushman Haulster, also a Cushman Scooter.

Jim made a career driving semi-trucks in and around MI, eventually retiring from Frito-Lay in 2002.

After retirement, he worked several part-time jobs that he enjoyed including hauling large cement parts for the Maumee River Crossing Project and vegetables for Horkey Brothers Farms in Dundee, MI.

When at home, Jim kept busy working on his 15-acre pond, keeping it nice for neighbors to also use and enjoy.

Survivors include: his wife, Carol; son, Kevin Adams; brother, Tom (Kay) Adams and grandchildren, Nathan, and Megan. He was preceded in death by his son, Mark Adams, sister, Liz Harris, and parents. Â Â Â
