Janice Lea (Bird) Henry

Janice Lea (Bird) Henry, age 84, of Ida, Michigan passed away on Sunday, August 27, 2023 in her home with family by her side. 

Janice was born in Flint, Michigan on July 29, 1939 to parents Carol and Audrey (Brown) Bird. She graduated from Flushing High School and attended the University of Michigan, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in education. Janice married Richard Henry on June 25, 1966 in Flushing, Michigan; they established their home in Milford, Michigan where they enjoyed 51 years of marriage before his death in 2018. 

Janice’s passion for teaching and working with children was apparent during her teaching career for Royal Oak Public Schools in the 1960s and her 18 years of employment with Huron Valley Schools. Outside of her career, Janice enjoyed baking, reading, genealogy, U of M football, and spending quality time with her family, friends, and pets. She especially loved sharing anecdotes about her extensive travels, experiences from her youth, and family remembrances. 

Janice is survived by her children; Bethany (Brian) Eby and Robert (Elizabeth) Henry, and grandchildren: Lauren, Madison, and Jonathan Eby and Caroline Henry. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and siblings, Rodger Bird and Jaclyn Allen.

Cremation has occurred and a celebration of life will be held at a future date. Memorial contributions can be made to the Huron Valley Humane Society or the American Cancer Society.
