Larry Michael Thayer

Larry Michael Thayer – 73 years of Petersburg, MI – died Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at his residence in Petersburg, MI.  Friends may visit Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church (Petersburg, MI) on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, from 10am until the funeral service commences at 11am.  Burial will take place at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery (Petersburg, MI) immediately following the funeral.  Pastor David Vinciguerra will officiate.

Born on February 3, 1950 – in Toledo, OH – Larry was the son of Wendell and Josephine (Gehr) Thayer.  He was a 1968 Macomber High School Graduate.  Larry also attended Owens Community College.  After graduating, he decided to join Crown and Cork Seal as a bander mechanic.  Larry worked for 31 years, retiring in 2000.  On September 17, 1994, he married Diane Libstorff at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church.  When Larry wasn’t working and was able, he adored traveling.  In addition, Larry enjoyed bowling, building models, working on 3D puzzle models, and spending quality time with family and friends.

Survivors include his wife Diane, his stepson Jeff (Wanelle) Libstorff, his foster daughter Taylor Wamsley, his brother-in-law and sister-in-law Gary and JoEllyn Libstorff, nephews Gary Jr. and Daniel, his niece Teresa Snider, grandchildren Hannah, Adam, and Nahla Libstorff, and great nephews and nieces.  Larry was preceded in death by his parents and his in-laws Arthur and Katherine Libstorff.
