Lawrence “Corky” Gerald Scharer Jr.

Lawrence “Corky” Gerald Scharer Jr., 65 years of Monroe, formerly of Ida, MI, died Friday February 17, 2023, in Karmanos Cancer Institute, Detroit, MI. friends may call at the Capaul Funeral Home, Ida, MI, Thursday February 23, 2023, from 2PM until the services at 7PM. Pastor Aaron Werner of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Ida, MI, will officiate. Cremation to following.

Born May 7, 1957, in Toledo, OH. Corky was the son of Lawrence and June (Bair) Scharer Sr. Corky was a 1975 Ida high School Graduate. He served Honorably with the United States Marine from 1975 to 1978. He was awarded the rifle Expert Badge and the Good Conduct Medal. Corky married Christian Schock on July 31, 2017, in Toledo, Ohio. He drove truck for Pepsi for 43 years, retiring in 2021. He was a member of Teamsters Local 337, Milan, Mi, and loved to hunt and fish with brother and nephew, gardening, history and especially wine.

Survivors include - wife, Christian; daughter, Lauren Flores; step-children, Austin Rice, Damon Rice, Sylvia Floyd; siblings, Mark (Linda) Scharer, Doug Scharer, Cindy (Joe) Schumaker, Brenda (Sam) Wajda and grandchildren, Landon and Scarlett. He was preceded in death by his parents.
