Loren Doyle Budzinski

Loren Doyle Budzinski – 75 years old of Ida, MI – died on Monday, November 13, 2023, at Trinity Health-St. Joseph Mercy Hospital Ann Arbor (MI).  A visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, November 17, 2023, from 2pm until 8pm, at Capaul Funeral Home in Ida, MI.  Loren will lie-in-state on Saturday, November 18, 2023, at Capaul Funeral Home, from 10am until the funeral service commences at 11am.  Burial will take place at Lulu Cemetery (Ida, MI) immediately following the funeral service.  Father Gerard Cupple will officiate.

Born on February 19, 1948 - in Saginaw, MI – Loren was the son of Lawrence and Genevieve (Doyle) Budzinski.  He was a 1966 Douglas McArthur High School graduate.  After high school, Loren attended Wayne State University and obtained a bachelor’s degree in chemistry.  He decided to join the Detroit police force, was promoted to sergeant, and worked predominantly in the forensic department.  He retired in 1998 after 30 years of service.  In 1968, he married Darlene Estep in Saginaw, MI.  Loren was a member of the Police FOP: Lieutenants & Sergeants and a former member of the Royal Pontiac Club.  When he wasn’t working, Loren enjoyed racing, hunting, reading, building engines, and spending quality time with his family and friends.

Loren is survived by his wife of 55 wonderful years, Darlene. His son and friend Greg (Michelle) Budzinski.  Survivors also include his brothers David Budzinski, Brian (Lynn) Budzinski, Kevin (Tina) Budzinski, Darin Budzinski and his sister Lynn (Cub) Simms.  Additionally surviving is his favorite hunting partner, Rexford Brown and many well-loved nieces and nephews.  Loren was preceded in death by his parents and sister-in-law Mary.
