Patricia Ray Thomas

Patricia Ray Thomas went to be with the Lord on July 22, 2023. She passed at her home in Howell, MI.  

Patricia was born in Houston Texas on August 6, 1940, to RA Smith and Douglas (Poe) Smith.  Patricia married Robert Frank Thomas in Leggett Texas on May 28, 1960. 

She graduated in 1961 from Sam Houston State University and earned a degree in Education majoring in Consumers Science. She continued her education at Eastern Michigan University earning a master’s degree in special education.

Patricia taught 1st grade in Houston Texas, before moving to Michigan. She taught in the elementary grades in Summerfield Schools, Petersburg. She spent the majority of her career teaching Special Education and Home Economics in Jefferson Schools in Monroe, Michigan.

Patricia and Robert made their home in Petersburg for over 30 years.  They were members of Heritage Baptist Church of Monroe.  

Patricia loved to cook, travel and spend time with family and friends.  Patricia especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandson.

Patricia was preceded in death by her beloved husband Robert, her parents RA and Douglas Smith, Stepfather Jay Smith and brother Richard Smith.

Surviving Patricia are her two children Frank (Andrea) Thomas of Monroe and Pamela (Kenneth) Reinhart of Howell.  Patricia had five grandsons, James (Stephanie) Thomas of Monroe, Ethan Thomas of Monroe, Garett Thomas of Monroe, Kevin Church of Howell, and Elijah Church of Howell, and one great grandson Samuel Thomas. 

There will be a Celebration of Life for Patricia Friday August 11, 2023, at Lakeside Missionary Baptist Church, 8270 N. Dixie Hwy, Newport MI from 12:00 pm to 2:00.

Patricia had a profound impact on many lives and will be greatly missed!
