Sandra Merece "Sandy" Padgham
January 1, 1934 - February 4, 2023
Sandra Merece “Sandy” Padgham, of Lambertville, passed away February 4, 2023, at Toledo Hospital at the age of 89 after a brief illness.
Sandy was born January 1, 1934, in Williamston Township Michigan to the late Lloyd and Amy (Fuller) Eberly. She, her late brother Eldred (Zeke) and her late sister Eva (Sadie) grew up in Williamston on the family’s 40-acre farm. As a teen, Sandy enjoyed training horses and riding, including trick riding, and was a graduate of Williamston High School, where she played on the basketball team. In 1953, she married Neil Max Padgham and they lived in Grand Ledge Michigan until 1968. The couple then moved to Ida Michigan based on Neil’s employment with General Telephone, and there they raised their family of four daughters. Sandy worked initially with Ida Adult Education, then worked until her retirement with the Monroe County Intermediate School District. In retirement, Sandy and Neil enjoyed many years together spending time with family and traveling prior to Neil’s passing in 2011 after 57 years of marriage. Sandy then moved to Lambertville.
She was well known in her Enfield Village and church communities for her excellent cooking and baking skills, which she utilized in providing meals and treats to her neighbors, family and friends. She became affectionately known as the “Cookie Lady”. Sandy greatly valued the companionship of her pet Pug Carmen but most of all loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was very proud of her family.
Sandy is survived by her daughters Shalene (Ron Drager) Williams, Ronda (Tom) Skittenhelm, Cheryl (Dave) Spaulding and Kris (Mike) Bay; grandchildren Dallas (Justin) Seitz, Ryan (Jenny) Williams, Jordan (Kayla) Revels, Michael (Morgan) Williams, Shelby (Joel) Bunge, Kelsey Skittenhelm and Kendra Skittenhelm; step-grandchildren Jackie Spaulding and Amy Spaulding; great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings; husband Neil; son-in-law John R. Williams; grandson Michael Dean Bay; and great-granddaughter Eliza Jane Bunge.
Visitation is scheduled for Friday, February 10, from 4pm to 8pm. Sandy will lie-in-state on Saturday, February 11th from 10am until the funeral at 11am. All services will be held at Capaul Funeral Home, 8216 Ida-West Road, Ida, Michigan www.capaulfuneralhome.com. Interment will be at Pleasant View Cemetery in Petersburg, Michigan. Reverend Roy Southerland is presiding.
