George Charles Cousino

George Charles Cousino (77) of Onsted MI, passed away on April 11, 2024, after a long battle with ALS. Friends may call at the Capaul Funeral Home, Ida, MI, Wednesday April 17, 2024, from 2-8PM. He will lie-in-state on Thursday April 18, 2024, from 10 AM until the services at 11AM at East Ida Immanuel Lutheran Church, Monroe, MI. Pastor Curtis Garland will officiate. The burial will be in East Ida Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Ida, MI.  

He was born to Margaret and Ervin Cousino on June 10, 1946, in Trenton, MI. George graduated Trenton High School in 1964 and enlisted in the Marines in 1965 where he proudly served in Vietnam as a corporal until 1968. He worked at Ford Motor Company in Monroe, MI for 43 years until the plant closed.  A self-taught knife maker, he loved making custom knives, spending time at the Onsted American Legion as a member of the Honor Guard and playing golf in his spare time. 

He was preceded in death by his mother, father, stepmother Betty, and brother-in-law Gary.  He is survived by his loving wife Carol of 29 years, sisters Roxie Ferguson and Karen (Robert) Smith, son Ryan (Kasie), daughter Stacey (Frank), and daughter Nichole, and uncle to countless nieces and nephews. George (Papa) also leaves behind 7 grandchildren, Adam, Zachary, Lillian, Avery, Eva, Jake, and Chase.  He was loved and will be forever missed. 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Lenawee, Onsted American Legion, or the ALS Association.
